Injured again

My back injury has flaired up again so no running for me! At the moment Im just going for a walk each day waiting for it to get better. Will write again once Im back in the gym.

5.8km Treadmill run + weekly weigh-in

Did the same 40 minute run on the treadmill today as yesterday but yesterday I only ran for 20mins at first and had a 3 min walk break - today I ran non-stop for 30mins and had a 3 min walk break so fitness improving slowly. Still aiming for an 8km outside long run tommorow.

Did a weigh-in in the gym and Im 14stone 8pounds which is a one pound loss since my last weigh-in. Next week I’m aiming to do an hour exercise every day and get on the healthy foods to try and break the 14 and half stone barrier.

5.8km Treadmill run

Did a nice 5.8km run on the treadmill today in 38minutes which worked out at a 6.30/km pace which wasn’t too bad. Was puffing quite hard towards the end though so a long way to go before my fitness is back. Had some back pain yesterday and today but as soon as I had done my run it’s dissapeared, fingers crossed I can keep it that way now.

Im going to do another treadmill run tommorow and then head out saturday morning for an outdoors long run - Im going to aim for around 8km for the long run.

Illness and Gym sessions

I swear it feels like someone doesn’t want me to get fit at the moment! After coming back from injury and putting in two sessions last week I came down with a stinker of a cold - so today was my first time back in the gym since last week.

Was really hard work as Im still getting over my illness - I did 25min cross trainer and 15min treadmill and now I feel so tired. Will try and get back in there tommorow and do some more.

40 Minute Treadmill Run

Obviously I’m a liar so ignore my last post - today I went back to running in the gym :)

I did a fairly slow 40 minute run on the treadmill - I made the mistake of going at lunch time and the gym was packed and I couldnt get on a cross trainer so had to go on the treadmill. I didnt feel too bad although I can tell my back isnt back to normal yet and my fitness is way off but I still enjoyed todays run - I quite like this stage of getting fitness back as every run you can do a little further and dont feel so out of breath etc each time.

Im having a day off tommorow as Im out on the beers for the Champions League final tonight and then Im off friday and saturday for a wedding so sunday could be my next run, if its sunny out Ill do an outdoors run.

Cross Training

So I think my last run was a bit too soon, Had back ache afterwards and today was the first day I could do some more exercise. I did 35 mins in the gym on the cross trainer today which feels like it has actually helped my back - feels looser and got more bend in it. Going to take it easy now and just build up on the cross trainer till my back’s 100% again. Boring but it has to be done - the proper running will have to wait for now!

Good news was I did a weigh-in and haven’t put much weight on - Im 14stone 9pounds so shouldnt be a problem getting it down from there once I start some proper running.

First run back from injury : 3.2km

Well its been 3 weeks since my last run - felt a lot lot longer than that but Im finally back!

I did a small outside run this morning of 3.2km in around 20 minutes which is nothing really compared to my 16km long runs I was doing before my injury. Still, it felt good to get back out there - I have lost a lot of fitness as I was out of breath at the end of this run - apparently it takes 2 weeks to get back each week of fitness lost so I should be back to normal in 6 weeks.

Aims for this week are to try and build up to running 6km, then get back up to 10km at the end of next week for my long run.

Anyway, despite my fitness level it feels good to be back!

Injured!

Well I did my 16km run the other day - was great and felt fine, unfortunately I went to play golf later in the day and put my back out so I havent been able to run since - very annoying.

I should be ok to have a run saturday morning and then Ill pick up again next week.

No run today

Went out last night to celebrate St. George’s day and had a few too many lagers! Going to use today as a recovery day and then do a 16km long run tommorow morning. Got a Stephen King audio book of “The Stand” to listen to - makes the time fly by.

Fartlek treadmill session

I thought my legs would be sore today after 2 10kms in 2 days but I got on the treadmill and they were fine so I put in a 40 minute fartlek session, putting in random runs on 9km/hour up to 12km/hour. I felt nicely exhausted at the end of it so job done!

Tommorow Im back in the gym for more treadmill and possibly some weights and of course to do my weekly weigh-in.
