First proper run back! 10.5km

Posted by: admin In: Fitness| Running

I’ve been having a bit of a break since the Great Ireland run as my lesg were aching - then when they had recovered it was a bank holiday weekend so lots of beer and I played football which set them back aching again!  Last week I fitted 2 gym trips in but my legs still weren’t fully recovered so I only managed a couple of 20 min treadmill sessions and some crosstrainer.

Today the sun was shining and my legs felt great so I decided to put in a 10km outside run. I set off and didn’t have any shin trouble - bit of a wierd pain in my knee so I walked for a bit and it soon cleared up. Unfortunately my fitness level has dipped due to the 2 weeks off so I had to put in around 5 short walk breaks but I still covered the distance, ending up doing 10km in 1 hour 8 minutes.

Im feeling good now though so Im going to push on with my training and get back to my fitness level before kicking on with the long runs building up to my 1/2 marathon distance.

Weight-loss wise I expect I have put on a few pounds - maybe back up to 15stone but Im on salads for dinner this week and doing some proper running so Ill do a weigh-in on friday and see where I am.
