My Sciatica was getting worse, it was hurting when I stood up or sat down - the only position it didnt hurt was lying down which is no good so today I thought I’d do some exercise to see if that helped.
I have a cross trainer at home so I used that - I managed about 5mins before I was getting sciatic pain in my leg so had a quick lay down for a minute or so and then resumed it. I repeated this up to the half hour mark.
Im sitting now and not getting any pain so its helped me, Im going to go for a quick walk and see how that feels but I think this could be the way forward till I can run and walk without pain.

Bad luck for me - I put my back out again over christmas (walking back from the pub xmas eve and falling on the ice, bit drunk!). Im basically at the stage now where the back pain has eased but I’m getting sciatica leg pain when standing up and walking, see this post for last time it happened.
Went for a walk today and was in quite a bit of pain and had to stop half way and lay down till it eased. I only managed to walk for around 10minutes.
Feel a bit down as I had been doing so well with my running but nothing I can do about it now but try and get better. I think tommorow I will go to the gym and do some weights and exercise bike - Im ok doing things sitting down so hopefully this will keep my fitness up till I can run again.

Today’s run was really hard - the snow was a lot thicker, a few inches deep and really seemed to sap my energy as I ran. Planned to run longer than this but felt tired and had slight pain in my right foot which cleared up. Dont think I’ll bother running in thick snow again, too hard - will do some treadmill runs if I do anything else before Christmas.

Went out for my long run today and did just over 14km in 1hour 37 - not bothered about the time, I’ve done a lot of running this week, probably the most Ive done ever - around 60km. My legs felt a bit sore and my sciattica gave me a small problem with some pain in my left leg but nothing too bad that I couldn’t handle.
I enjoyed todays run - the ground had quite a bit of ice and snow on it and towards the end of the run it really started snowing so by the end everything was covered in snow - I’m really enjoying running in this cold weather; I dont have to worry about sweating too much so I dont have a drink with me - I wrapped up today with a shirt, sweatshirt with hood up, waterproof running jacket, beanie hat, gloves and tracksuit bottoms.
Looking forward to giving my legs a well deserved rest tommorow and possibly monday (but probably not!).

Well the day off had to wait - my new Asics Nimbus arrived today and who can resist testing out new running shoes? The shoes are great - much better than the last pair of Asics 3000 I bought, more cushioning etc.
Just went for a nice easy jog today as things are a bit sore, my back was aching a bit as well - probaby because I’ve upped the mileage quite a bit this week. Will see how I feel in the morning to decide whether or not I do my long run, I probably will though!

I tried to stop myself running today but couldn’t! Ended up doing a rapid 10km run outside in the snow in 1 hour 50seconds - the fastest I’ve recorded with my Nike+
Defo having a day off running tommorow!

Probably shouldnt have done another run today, especially not another quick one but I did so nevermind! Nike+ recorded it today and I ran for 41mins at 11km/hour on the treadmill with a 3min walk break. Nike+ is showing an average pace of 5.35mins per km - thats great, If I knock off the walk break its probably about 5mins per km which means a 10km in 50mins - 5 mins short of my target.
Will have to force myself not to run tommorow and do some weights instead.

Did a really good run today on the treadmill - 50mins at 11km/hour pace, thats the fastest I’ve run so far on the treadmill. Giving up smoking has really helped my cardio, no way could I have kept going at that pace before. My aim is to do a 10k in 45minutes so I need to up that treadmill to 13km/hour to achieve that buts its definately looking do-able now. Anoying thing is, my Nike+ didnt work again today so i dont have a record of it - looks like I need to get a new one.

First run back today after having a cold, turned out the cold wasn’t too bad so I di an outdoors run of 11.5km in 1hour 13mins. Felt good, some coughing problems so my breathing wasn’t spot-on but not too bad at all.
Going to do a weights session tommorow in the warm gym - was freezing out today!

Turns out it was a cold coming - feel rotten today so no gym for me and probably no long run this weekend - hopefully be back to normal by monday.
