Been ages since I have logged anything on here, unfortunately I have been injured again so haven’t been doing much running. I have had ITBS which isn’t too painfull but will not go unless you lay off the running for around 6 weeks which is what I have been doing. I have been still going to the gym though - I decided to use this enforced layoff running to do some proper weight training and try to build up some muscle. The weight training has been going really well - I have put on noticeable muscle mass and got some good strength gains.

Part of weight training and putting on muscle is having to consume more calories than you use each day so I put on some weight and have been drinking 3 protein shakes a day.

I had a run outside on saturday and felt good - no noticeable knee pain afterwards, did a small run of 3.5km in 22 minutes. Today I did another run in the gym and did 4.75km in 30mins - a decent enough time considering I havent been running properly for ages. I think the gym work has helped keep my fitness up this time, Ive also been doing a fair bit of rowing in the gym and can even do press ups again.

Im going to take it easy with running and ease myself back into it, I think tommorow will be a weights day and then thursday Ill try a run of around 40mins.

Feels great to be back running though - I enjoy it so much more than any other form of exercise.
